Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce relies on the expertise of our committees as key component of our present and future growth.  Committee leaders will assist NOVAHCC in developing thoughtful industry activities, identify SME speakers, and other relevant activities that will guide us to serve proactively and effectively the business community we represent. 


We are openly seeking leaders to serve in teams of (3) comprised by one committee chair and two co-chairs for each sector mentioned below.

Construction and Infrastructure 

The Construction and Infrastructure committee will review the broad scope of opportunities available to small businesses for rebuilding and modernizing the nations’ infrastructure and business opportunities with Primes and Government. In addition, oversight and be informed of procurement practices and programs affecting small businesses. Be informed of policies and procurement opportunities to expand participation by small businesses in the federal contracting marketplace, VDOT and other entities such as VDOT, MWAA, WMATA and more.  

Government Contracting

Promotes the 8(a) programs to help minority and other small disadvantaged businesses (SDBs) to grow with NOVAHCC thru participation of solicitation for procurement with government matchmakings. This Committee will identify key government officials locally, statewide and federal stakeholders interested in delivering procurement readiness training to NOVAHCC members and helping us delivery of Government Contracting Matchmakings.  

Healthcare, Science and Technology

This committee endeavors to stay at the forefront of trends in Healthcare and STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math educating chamber members, the community and the media on important healthcare and technology issues. Communication between experts in healthcare and IT leaders as well as organizing events with Speakers who are SME to communicating effectively new trends to the community. The Committee will update the President of NOVAHCC about federal and state initiatives, policies, legislation, and other pertinent topics in STEM and Cyber-security.

Hospitality/Restaurants and Retail

Assist the chamber in identifying new hotels, restaurants and event venues, as partners and sponsors for planning monthly events, promoting chamber mission, vision, and services throughout Northern Virginia. In addition to promoting Chamber membership, benefits of membership and member participation.  

International Investment & Commerce 

Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, seeks to serve as a connector between Virginia to and from Latin America and the Caribbean organizing one on one matchmaking meetings to increase business opportunities with international prospect Buyers and vendors.  

Membership

The Membership Committee cooperates with the NOVAHCC Chairperson, EAC members, staff, and other members of the board, to provide advice and counsel on matters of membership recruitment and retention.  The membership committee is responsible for welcoming new members and organizing with NOVAHCC the New Member Reception and onboarding meeting.

Procurement Diversity Supplier

The Procurement and Diversity Supplier Committee ensures a diverse supplier base in the procurement of goods and services. This committee emphasizes the creation of a diverse supply chain that works to secure the inclusion of diverse groups in the procurement plans for business matchmaking with the private sector. This committee will assist NOVAHCC in creating training programs and seminars with Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE), and Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE).

Workforce Development

Acts as principal adviser to the chamber about the legislature, strategic direction with efforts to create a strong workforce aligned with the employer’s needs. In addition, identify current and future workforce trends and needs of the business community and related training requirements. In addition, the committee will examine small business job growth through the creation and adoption of advanced technologies and will review the broad scope of workforce issues that affect the ability of businesses to obtain and maintain qualified employees.
